WILD HAWAII INSTALLATION NOTES

BASIC INSTALL
     - Best with 17" or smaller monitors.
 
   - Best choice for older PCs with slow CPUs.
     - Runs well on fast PCs.
     - Photos display at the resolution to which the monitor is already set..
     - Photos cropped for a 3x4 aspect ratio - typical of smaller monitors
       ( 800x600, 1024x768, and 1152x864 pixel resolution).

PROS
     - Works on almost any system. If in doubt, choose this option.
 

CONS

     - Transitions not as fast or as smooth as with DirectX option
     - Photos will lack fine detail if monitor is set to a low resolution.
     - Photos stretch vertically to fill larger screens (1280x1024 pixels).

DirectX INSTALL
DirectX is a Windows technology which enhances graphics display.
     - Best on PCs running at 1 GHZ or more  with 17 inch or larger monitors.
     - Photos always display at high (1280x1024 pixel) resolution.
     - Photos cropped for a
5x4 aspect ratio - typical of larger monitors.

PROS
     - Transitions between pictures run quickly and smoothly.

     - Photos show fine detail regardless of how monitor is set

CONS
    .- Requires a reasonably fast PC.
     - Best with a 17 inch or larger monitor.
     - On smaller monitors captions & some picture may be cut off
     - DirectX occasionally causes display problems.



FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How can I measure the size of my monitor?
     - Screen size is measured diagonally between the inside corners.

How can I find out my screen resolution?
     - Right-click anywhere on your desktop.
     - Choose Properties.
     - Choose Settings.
     - Screen resolution is shown at lower left.
       You can change it by moving the slider.

How can I find out my computer's speed?
Windows XP:
    - Go to My Computer.
    - Click on System Information.
    - The processor type and speed is shown under the General tab.
 Windows Millenium, 98, or 95:
    - Your processor speed is probably less than 1 GHZ.

How can I change the number of seconds each picture shows?
     - Right-click anywhere on the Windows desktop.
     - Choose Properties.
     - Choose Screen Saver.
     - Choose Settings.
     - Set the number of seconds you desire.

Is there a way to start my screensaver any time I want?
Yes. Install DefaultScreensaver, a freeware program included on the CD.
     - Right-click on the CD icon in My Computer.
     - Choose Explore.
     - Find the file DefaultScreensaver and copy it.
     - Paste the copy to your Desktop.
     - Double-click on DefaultScreensaver to start your screensaver.
